“I’ve always wanted to dance”
Aliona first got into dancing at the age of just five, when she took up ballet in Kazakhstan. At the age of nine Aliona moved to Russia with her parents and started to learn ballroom dancing. But it was age 13 she really began to show her future star potential, when she was invited to America to join the infamous Kaiser Dance Academy in Brooklyn.
Just three years later she became a US National 10 Dance Winner and was part of a winning US Ballroom Team, after which she went on to become the youngest professional dancer ever in the US at the age of 17. Television was the next obvious step and Aliona went on to perform in the US arena tour and TV show, Dancing With the Stars, before joining the Strictly Come Dancing line-up in 2009.
A year later Aliona was a runner-up with Mat Baker and two years later Aliona won the show with McBusted singer, Harry Judd, cementing her place as one of the shows top dancers. Her most recent success came at the end of 2014 when she won the Christmas Special with Olympic gymnast, Louis Smith.

A few things about me…
“My favourite film.”
Gladiator. I love this film, Russell Crowe is brilliant and if anyone hurt my family I would want to grab a sword and take them on. I love the Roman culture and history as well.
“My favourite food.”
Seafood. I enjoy nothing more than being by the sea in a nice restaurant with fresh fish. It so healthy and tasty.
“My favourite music.”
Pop music. I am a big fan of all sorts of music but pop music is the one that most gets me in a good mood and ready to dance.
“When I’m not dancing, my Favourite thing to do is.”
Spending time with my family. I love going on holiday and spending time with my parents and my husband. I recently went on a mini tour of Europe with my mum which was amazing.
